I found this and i like it due to the die crack it is very noticeable on the reverse i got this out of the mint box. So grade or not to grade. What would it grade at. thanks for any opinions or advice .
The members to grade here in the forum. then send it out to get it graded at anacs or some place else.
not worth getting it graded...if you want one already slabbed then go buy one. It will be cheaper for you in the long run.
I'd agree. If you never plan to sell this one, don't bother getting it graded. If a professionally graded and slabbed coin makes you feel better about your coin, then just buy one already graded and slabbed.
I agree also.. save your money. The reverse of your coin has other problems, so if you want an example of a Lincoln die crack, buy one like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Massive-Cra...40?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item415f1cd52c
another option is to see what you can sell that one for and then take the money and put it towards a graded coin of that style if you like error coins. that's usually the cheapest way to go if it's worth it at all.
How so? I think it would only be confusing if you make it confusing. Coin collecting is pretty straight forward. I say if you're a collector and not a seller/dealer, don't even worry about graded coins, learn to grade yourself, buy what you like, who cares what anyone else thinks.
Very true. Collect for the FUN of it; that's what I did back when I started (almost sixty years ago) and that is what I still do. Once you begin to take a hobby too seriously, it becomes more "business" and less "fun".
Welcome to CT! :welcome: Cool die crack. I would just put it in a 2x2 flip and enjoy knowing that it only cost $.01. TC
Except die cracks aren't really considered an error as they are common occurrences when the dies wear down from use.
