    Hello Everyone,
I need help with a coin I found. I noticed that the 1958 was over what appears to be a
number underneath. There is so much written In Re: the 1958 Lincoln Cent that confuses me.
Is it a die gouge, overdate, doubled date? Also is it a valuable coin? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    :(

    Hi,
It's almost impossible to tell from a picture that is small. Can you get a bigger pic of the date?

    1958 overdate question?

Hello and Thank you for your reply- I really appreciated it!

I have scanned another picture. I am hoping that you can get a better look at the coin.
I have a flatbed scanner- so it's kind of difficult.

    Hi,
It appears to be the result of a die chip. When a small piece of the die chips or breaks away, it leaves a depression in the die that results in a raised area on the coin.
It is not uncommon on and around the digits in the date.
    I hope this helps!
