The bars on Lincoln's bust look like a print. Kind of like a fingerprint that eventually turns black and becomes permanent on the surface of a coin. It doesn't appear to actually have any depth or relief into or from the surface. Just my opinion though.
I'm fairly open minded...can you describe the scenario where the Memorial could be impressed into the Lincoln bust via Die Clash?
no offense to anyone, but this is my opinion... if you dont like what rascal has to say then dont read/ reply to them. and to me if this coin isnt a fake then i see what he is talking about.
Darn good post here finally from someone. I found another coin something similar to my two coins , remember I have a matching set of these. I hope Riggo don't mind me showing you his coin. Riggo's coin even has the part of the memorial building showing on Lincoln's ear like mine. I don't know what date his coin is. anyway click here and you can see a much better photo than I can come up with. http://www.collectorsunleashed.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=78
well ive read a couple of your threads in which people slam you for it. figured i would try to say somthing. it would be nice though for some better pics if possible.
This matching set of two clashed die coins are in the coin holders and it's hard for me to get a good photo thru the plastic. I like these unusal coins and I'm not opening them back up for a photo shoot. sorry but that is the way it is.
That's ok. Then you'll just have to live with the fact that there may not be enough from your present pictures to tell definitely.
I already know what my coins are and I didn't ask for anyone's help. I was just showing a photo of one of them and thought folks may learn what a die clash looks like from it. I'm sorry if I got you confused. another reason I showed this coin is to try to help folks understand it is possible for a die clash to go up inside of the recessed areas of the coin dies. a few folks have claimed this to be impossible but now some of us know it can happen.
