not surprised about this post after having posted this
The reason we need you to say who you sent it to instead of just guessing is so that when we check with that individual and they say they never looked at a coin of your's you can't say "that wasn't the expert I was talking about". Stop playing games and state the name of the expert so we can confirm it and then you can have your last laughs at all of us who don't know anything.

Threads such as this need to be responded to - as opposed to being ignored. CoinTalk is utilized by the general public as a coin collecting reference. In a thread such as this the general public deserves to know that there is an opposing viewpoint. We as a group have the responsibilty of conveying the opposition else the general public may view the OP information prima facia as generally accepted correct.

Specifically addressing the coin in question based on the current information available to me I am of the opinion that it is PMD. If the coin has been inspected by an expert in the field and that individual has concluded otherwise - at this point I would respectfully disagree with them. To change my opinion It would take more than an expert stepping forward and saying different or it simply being slabbed by a 3rd party grading service. I'll need a reasonable explanation of how the error occured before I would consider buying the coin for my collection. I have seen my fair share of mis-attributed coins sitting in slabs. Even the experts are not perfect. Every authorative source (CONECA, Wexler, Potter, Daughter, Crawford, etc) don't agree on everything. Heck they don't always agree with themselves as their reference listings are always changing due to deletions as well as additions.

I like your post and so far your post on this thread is about the only one I read that shows very much common sense at all , I can tell from your words that you do know something about coins. You are right about the experts making a few bad calls and having to retract them but in the end they usually put their heads together and get it right. I think I would enjoy talking with you , I like folks that actually know what they are talking about . PM me any time you want to . Troy W

I'm sorry -- were you addressing the "anti- 'new' members who have been posting for almost a year on the same note" group, or the "anti- 'new' members with almost 500 posts" group?

No it is not. But there are times when we do decide that some people should just be quiet for a while ;)

The "I told you" part to the op post told me not to bother reading the thread.
I will say that the op is one of the best trolls I have seen on the boards in some time.
He can cry and post just on the edge of getting the boot. That's not easy.
Probably adds a bit of fun to the forum, but honest members should be careful not to cross the line because of him.

Personally, I don't believe that Rascal is a troll. I think he's convicted in his beliefs and very difficult to communicate with, but not a troll.

I also believe that he's not ignorant of the minting processes but this one is simply way out there in what he's wanting folks to believe.

The only way to get any credibility at this point in time is to have one or two of the CONECA "experts" actually examine the coin(s) in hand. Until then, its simply fruitless and pointless to continue speculative discussion with regard to either coin.

It's always good to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I think he is here for the sole purpose of messing with people. Some people don't have any better way of getting their kicks.
The way he goes about his posts... it's like someone trying to "play the fool" rather than actually being one.

Many people have called it in many posts, starting from the very first posts in which this character appeared.

Yeah, I have to chime in too. I don't think rascal fits in the troll category exclusively. He seems to have an interest in coins, error and possibly otherwise. But I think his way of acting on the board is somewhat trollish, perhaps because of other things guiding how he interacts with people. I don't think he has the need to be right so much as needing to have the last word and allowing himself to think that he's god's gift to everyone else here. If that means putting people down, antagonizing others, accusing other people of being things that most people see in him, well, that's the way it is. So, ultimately, no one "wins" against him.

As much as he will always try to have the last word, whether by starting new posts on the same old subjects, or whatever, it is, IMO, as someone else said here, important to refute what we know to be wrong information given by him, as others come to CT as a resource, as to leave him "alone" and unrefuted when he's intent on teaching others the wrong thing, is harmful to people who do want to learn.

So..... the thing I'll be doing is complimenting and correllating what he says is correct, and refuting what is wrong, with a healthy discussion allowed.

Peace and goodwill to all on this board. It's Christmas time, (Newtonmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, et al), so lets be as much in that spirit as we can.

You guys aren't going to believe this. I just found a very rare reigndog. I showed it to an expert at the DNR and he said it was authentic. I know some of you will doubt it's authenticity. You really can't jump to any conclusions based on the image though. How are you going to feel when I have it stuffed in a month or so?
