I've come to notice that only the Eastern FRB's issued out webs so the chances of me finding a web out here in Cali are slim to none... I still do know that another California member on here found one so who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky just as he did. I'm going to post todays finds shortly...

I have found 5 Webs in the last 3 years. One time this dealer told me that I wouldn't find any in circulation, well I have proved him wrong five times so far. One of them is kind of interesting, most of you on here wouldn't like the "problem" with it but I feel it gives the note a nice historical context. I'll have to post a scan of it on here soon.

Yes, in 2008 I found my first- a 1988A C-A note. In 2009 I found a 1995 A-C, in 2010 I found 2 unrelated 1993 B-H notes and this year I found another 1988A C-A. That 1981 you found looks fantastic, that is a keeper for sure. The other old finds are nice as well.

I really don't think that the issuing bank would have anything to do with whether or not you'd find a web in circulation. I'm not sure how the fed handled distribution back in days when web's were being produced, but as far as I know, the issuing bank has very little to do with where new notes end up, right before they enter circ.

It's pretty much a "whats available at the time" kind of thing.

Anyway, web's are hard to find in circulation, for sure, but not impossible.
You'll get one, so no worries! :)

I specifically meant that the facility was Eastern (and most Eastern bank are printed in the eastern facility). The specical web press facility was in the East, but I forget specifically where. This is what has led me on to believe that chances of me finding one out here and someone finding one in New England are higher, but then again, I could be mistaken. I do know that most DC notes end up circulating in the East and most Fort Worth notes end up circulating in the West. I could however just be misiformed, I'm certainly no pro when it comes to understanding the BEP Federal Reserve system...

    Tbud,

Sorry, but I gave you some bad info. I thought you would find 2 or 3 web notes before a found another but unless you found them all last night I was wrong. I found this one at work tonight. Looks like that's another check mark for New England:hail:

This one is not quite as nice as my first, maybe VF( maybe wishful thinking). It is another 1988A but 1988A Web Note A-F block front.jpg 1988A Web note A-F block back.jpg
    an A-F block this time.

Just another reason to hate NY, just kidding. I wish that note would have stayed out here in Cali though hehe. Seriously though, nice find. It's almost a radar but for sure at least a trinary. Do you strap search??:) 77 59 59 77 is a lot more interesting than a lot of the trinaries I come accross strap searching.

As usual T-Bud, some very neat finds, there.
Question on those small head $5's, were those part of a strap, or did the tellers save those for you?

  19. tbudwiser

    tbudwiser Active Member

Those ones were actually all strap finds. My teller currently has LOTS of small heads and stars for me - I always stop by at all the banks on my way to the one with the tellers and I strap search on the way and keep those fiinds as well.

    Thanks for checking them out.:)
