Hello- & Welcome ! I guess 1st off I need to ask about the reverse. Does it have any indentations ? If not you may have what would be an" included gas bubble " error that happened during the minting process. Or you could have a coin that was intentionally damaged by some other means, a torch or something else. Not a real demand or a high value- You may be able to get a few bucks for it on ebay- You may want to refer to this thread linked here-HERE Nice picture-
Thanks for the info! The back has some bumps too. I read the link so I guess my coin is not going to buy me a big log home in the hills! Dang it!!!!
Hi, The terminology is not "included" gas, but "Occluded Gas" There are some legitimate errors caused by gas expanding between the layers of a clad coin's layers but this one is likely the result of being heated. The edge of this coin is also tampered with leading me to believe that it is definitely an after Mint damage. It's worth about 25 cents Bill
Looks like the coin has the mumps to me. I have seen coins that have been heated in an oven for a prolonged period of time that looked just like this.
