Nice coin despite being cleaned. Good details from what I can tell. I'd take it off your hands if you aren't happy with the purchase. ;)

Excellent AU detail on this coin. It really is a shame it was cleaned. Either way, I like it and would fill the empty hole in my type set nicely! It would feel right at home with my cleaned Liberty half dollars.

Thanks guys I appreciate it! And Leadfoot, do you think it's not? I'm 99% sure it is ;)

It just struck me as odd looking. Nothing I can put my finger on. Perhaps just the old cleaning or your photography technique that has me confused.

That happens to me as well sometimes, I know what you mean! But it's probably the contrast or cleaning as you mentioned that might be giving it that look?

AU-Det. Very sharp details! For a problem coin, it is fairly attractive. :)
    Nice pick-up! :thumb:

    I like it.

But, are those scratches at the eagle's throat?

Nice coin, minted just one year after the end of the civil war.
I like it in spite of the light cleaning - I do not see hairlines so i guess it was gently cleaned. I think this coin is a good candidate for natural retoning. I have one or 2 like that which have been seating on my windowsill for 20 years or so, and they now look (much) better.

Wow I'm glad so many of you like this coin even though of the cleaning job. I agree it is a real beauty and these are hard to find in this condition so that's all that matters.

Even though its been cleaned, looks like its well on its way to a nice toning.
