    Hey guys,

I've been going Halves for about 2 months now. I've gone through over $1200 in halves and have yet to find a keeper. no proofs, no silver, no errors, no nothing!! is this normal? all comments are welcome.

I have no idea check out the roll hunters thread, the best I've ever done was $200 in quarters and found 2 1964-D's. I've heard that you want to try different banks though.

I take it the halves you are searching are Kennedys?

BWR would be Bank Wrapped Roll.

CWR would be Customer Wrapped Roll.

Half searching can be long periods of doldrums punctuated by brief moments of sheer excitement. I have gone through hundreds of dollars worth and found nothing, then gone through $20 worth in two rolls and found three 40%ers. It all has to deal with whether your silver benefactors are feeling benevolent at the moment or not. Yes I found three 40% in just two rolls this week.

My best find was back in March:

52 40%, 9 90% and that handful of proofs - came out of $340 in rolled halves that were CWR at one of my credit unions. The teller said they had had them for years.

There are the 64 90% Kennedys and the 65-70 40%ers as well.

Half dollar rolls add up real quickly. Maybe its time you switched up where you get them.

I am out near Vegas and I have never found silver in a roll of anything here in a few years now. I understand that nearly every slot machine used to have a Ryedale inside and would check coins as they came through. Then every count room set one up to pull silver. My banker told me that the coin compaines use Ryedales to pull silver before wrapping. Frankly, I think, for me, anyway, it's a waste of time. I roll check a lot of copper and sometimes nickels and dimes when I need a break. But seldom do quarters and never halves any more.

Like Obama said about finding Bin Ladin, you gotta look for something where it's likely to be. Well, I gotta hunt for things to be found in copper, mostly.

I went through $3000 in boxes yesterday and found 1 lonely 67. One day I got a CWR from the bank and it was solid silver. It's feast or famine.

You just have to keep searching. Volume volume volume. The more you hunt, the more you find. Good luck!

I would say maybe change sources. Sounds like you got a bunch of rejects from another roll searcher. I would imagine pickings can be slim nowadays with the price of silver. I used to buy bags back when silver was only $4 and used to get quite a bit, I bought some a few years ago and still found some 40% and a 90%, but pickings definitely were much slimmer.

I just ordered my first $1000 in halves this morning. It will be in the week after Christmas. I called 8 banks (including bank of america where i have multiple accounts) before the nice lady at the credit union I use called me back to say they would order me some... If I could buy $1000 worth...I guess bank of America will have plenty for other customers when I am done searching.

Other than silver and proofs, anything else I should be looking for?
