Searching through a box of pennies last week and found an interesting coin. It was a 72s that appeared to be a steel penny. It is not copper in appearance. Not sure if it had been doctored or if it was out of some special proof set. But after seeing the threads on the 2006 no copper cent being sold on e-bay, I guess this penny is also one that has been doctored. Anyone ever seen a 72s in a similar state? It is a shame if it was doctored, being I needed a 72s for my album.

It was probably plated - it happens a lot !

I’ve never see a 72s but I’ve plated several coins myself. I had a good time taking them to the bar. :D

Trying to learn to take clearer pics with my Cannon Powershot A520. Nowhere as good as other pics on this site. Any pointers. I am trying to put pics up here. Unsure if it will work.

Make sure you're using the macro setting (usually shown as a flower icon).

Most cannons have lousy minimum mm ranges when using the macro feature. They are only good to about 18mm. Any closer and all you get is blurred pictures. I sometimes use a thin lens that I hold in front of the camera and can take closer shots.
