Most exciting find you have had?

I inherited all my coins at the same time, so i guess that was my most exciting find.

Although I told you guys about finding the 88 D RDV-006, I had forgotten that in the late 1960's I stopped for lunch at a hamburger stand several miles from my house. I got dimes in change and they were Mercs. I went back and ordersomething else and the dimes I got back were Mercs. I asked the girl at the counter if she had more of them. She told me that her change from the bank that morning had 5 rolls of dimes,,,,,,,all Mercs. They were never in circulation at that point in time. I bought all she would sell. Then I went to other businesses nearby and bought all their dimes and traded those for what she needed in the till. Back then it was a fantastic find and probab ly one in a lifetime. I believe many of the Mercs in my set came from these rolls.

As far as coins go...

One day when I was walking to class last year, I was looking down at the ground in front of me like I do most of the time, and I saw what looked like an old penny. I assumed it was just a really beat up Lincoln, but I decided to bent over to pick it up anyways. As I got closer I saw that it had the wreath design on it and was excited to find it was an IHC, 1886 I think, don't remember for sure.
Another one I had was an S mint marked wartime nickel, I think it was a '42, if they were being made at that time? I found it in my house at school last year. I saw it on the floor of my kitchen and before I picked it up I thought it might have been a wartime nickel because of the way it looked. So, I picked it up, looked on the back and there was the big S.


Those are my two exciting coin finds. Nothing too special, but I sure was excited when I found each one!!

 

Mine was about two years ago, picked up some rolls of half dollars from a BOA. Two rolls were all Franklins and Walkers!
