At first I though you meant 8-12 boxes of coin!

I'm stopping by the bank today at lunch. Once again I had a teller give me a fish tale about a different teller having a few of the big old silver dollars, but being out to lunch. Problably clad IKE's but after hearing someone here post they were able to buy ASE's from the bank for a dollar I'm sure going to at least take a look!! also picking up two boxes of halves tommorow.

I'm having bank problems. BoA charged me $25 for a monthly fee. I can get a free account but I can't go to a teller for transactions, which means no dumping in the coin lock bags as a teller somewhere along the line applies the credit to the account. Had plans on going down there and dropping off two large bags of coin today and then speaking with the branch manager. I might have to switch banks but that might allow me to order halves from a different bank and maybe they will be something other than a skunk!

Capital One has free checking, if there is a branch near you. That is who I use.

Thanks, I don't think they are in my area but I'll check. Are you able to dump at their branches as well?

    Don't dump where you eat!

If need be, sure. There are some branches with coin counters as well.

Remember NYC has thousands of banks, so where to get rid of coin is not as much of an issue.

Picked up $75 in Ike's at lunch. All Clad. I will have to read up on them and figure out what types and errors to look for.

There is only one branch (Cap One) in my area. I was hoping there would be several and I could make them a new dump bank and deposit coin direct into my checking or something like that. Supply banks are a little easier to come by in my area.

The BoA thing turned out OK. Essentially I will have to get cash and deposit checks from the ATM only which is not a big deal. What I was more concerned with is if I use a teller at all they will end up charging me. I did clarify that I could use a teller to purchase coin loose or boxes with CASH ONLY no withdrawing from my accounts, and I can still bring in coin-lock bags for deposit since coin-lock bags are not processed by a teller. BoA in my area is the most plentiful bank, so I have my two dump banks and the rest are supply banks along with a few others. I spent an hour there and got fired up a bit and was about to close my accounts but we ended up coming to an agreement. It's not like I'm carrying a min balance or something.

Cool ! You pop 'em open and check for the "Near Date" ?

A friend who worked for the Post Office near the AR/MO border told me they dumped a ton of the "near Dates" there for use in the stamp machines. He pulled a bunch of them, but didn't get any BWRs. Maybe you hit a good one ? HOPE SO !!

yesterday I picked up $200 CWR dimes. 64D roosie and someone also managed to fit a really nice 43P steel penny in there. I'll see if I can get a pic up later. the real find for me was today. Stopped by a bank I hadnt been to before. $20 halves-nothing. $160 dimes - well I havent counted how many I got from the rolls yet but I know that I beat my old record of silver dimes for one day (which was 78), mainly because a bunch of the rolls were from the same person it looks like. I was pulling between 2 and 13 silver dimes each roll. will post final results later when I get through them. Great day!

Went back to the bank to try and buy the remaining 3 boex of halves that the head teller said she had. Someone else came in after me and bought them. I am not happy.

Went on a coin hunting roadtrip didnt find too many rolls of halves but out of the ones I did find I scored 2 whole rolls of %40'ers and found 6 more out of other rolls bought. 46 silver %40 halves sure made my day :)

Went to a different branch today than usual to get some rolls and lucked into one fed reserve roll of uncirculated 1979-P susan b anthonys they had laying around for face. The only pre-1960s nickel in all of the rolls was a 1957-D that was in almost perfect condition, I'm guessing whoever searched those rolls skipped it because it looked like a new nickel. Nothing but the one coin from the rolls, but I figure the trip was still worth it because of the dollars.
