wow....you are actually asking me? I wanted to learn about what coin collecting grading companies are ligit and which are not.
In no way was I trying to be rude, I just thought it was kinda random, I appologize a million times over. Once again I'm very sorry, these threads are confusing me, I'm thinking they're new when they pop up on the side ->.
The thread originator was about to get flamed by me. Then I looked at the date and was about to flame the thread bumper. Why? Because there are no such things as stupid questions. But damn, there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots. There are pieces of advice and things that must be beat into collectors' heads: #1 - do NOT clean coins. #2 - stick with the PCGS, NGC, ANACS, or ICG to grade coins. #3 - Do you see the "Grading company listed in #2? Follow Rule #2 Other than that, have fun. Now Taylor, go give yourself a good spanking and look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how that hurt you more than it hurt me or whatever parents tell their kids now.
Taylor, Vroomer is grumpier than me so you have my permission to ignore him. I really don't mind some of the older threads being brought forward because some are interesting to read. I only wish that there would be a disclaimer posted in big bold letters on top of the first page warning us that it is an old thread because sometimes I forget to look at the date. Chris "Excuse me, you do realize that this thread is almost as old as you. Anything you post here might be ignored."
surely guys it is much better to learn how to grade yourself than to keep paying hand over fist for someone else to do it for you, just so they can encase the coin in a plastic coffin..............
A warning on the first page wouldn't help me because I always open threads using the "Go to first unread" thingy, and since I probably read the thread when it was new I go straight to page 3, 4, 5, whatever.
Since NES holders are still selling at ebay and other online venues, the age of this thread is irrelevant. It actually comes up in the top half of a Google search for NES coin grading, so making issue of an old thread being bumped, is a good method of discouraging newbies. Besides, I don't know how many times I have seen a person who posted a new thread and was told and directed, via a link, to the former thread on the same subject. I think it's time for a group hug, live and let live.
The guy somehow manages to keep selling his "certified coins" on eBay, compiling a pretty good feedback rating along the way. Don't know how he does it. Here's some text from one of his auctions: RETURN POLICY: Your satisfaction is guaranteed! You have 7 days after receiving your package to notify us you're returning your purchase and to ship it back. Removing coin from holder you receive it in voids return privilege. We sell certified coins as a finished product .If you feel you are an expert and your coin will grade higher or cross over in a different service you are doing so at your own risk. If the image does not match the description please email us and do not assume that we do not make typo's.
Hey, I have tried it. Bought an "AU" 1915 Lincoln thinking I might get an XF, but it turned out to be fine. No problem on the returns. I also bought several PCGS coins from him and had great service.
