if you think about it the answer is pretty easy. It's because they don't know which ones they'll keep and which ones they'll sell to other dealers.

Hey, I'll give $100 for ANY PCGS MS69 or NGC MS69 Ike you possess! Better yet, I'll up it to $500 for ANY PCGS or NGC MS69 IKE you possess!

They found a hoard that amounts to .07% of the Denver mintages and you expect that to have an effect on values?

If these are solid year bags then the one in the picture above is a bag of 1977 D
One bag down 199 more to identify:too-funny:

Personally I think this may end up being a positive for the series as a whole
with the advertising campaign that Littleton is going to through at this "Big Sky Hoard"
It may just bring more collectors to the hobby as a whole and to the Eisenhower Dollar Series.

    Just my 2 Cent piece

About five years ago my mom found 107 Eisenhower dollars that my grandmother had saved.

They were circulated, worn, and scratched veterans of Reno's casinos.

I did manage to sell them for $117 and shipping ($12).

    :)

Could this have anything to do with the closing of the the Fed Buildings around the country.

I'm in agreement regarding Littleton's exorbitant prices, but Q. David Bowers thinks the world of them, so they must have something going for them, that's for sure.

    Maybe he owns stock.

After they've gone through all the bags and taken the good ones out , they can put the rest back in bags and sell them as "Unsearched Ike Bags" :D

I seriously doubt that since these, from what I understand, weren't common bank stock but purchased and stroed specifically with investment in mind. Typically, a 1,000 piece bag sells for anywhere between $1500 and $3000 depending upon date.

I expect that Littleton paid around $1500 to $1850 for the entire lot.

"Unsearched" is really a relative term in that not all folks are "searching" for the same thing and IKE's go way beyond simple high grade specimens. There are ANY as yet undiscovered varieties out there that folks simply do not see.

This 1971-S Proof, was in a 2x2 and cost me $10.

I have heard of significant DDO and DDR coins from 1971 and 1972. There are even some nice RPM's that folks seem to be blind to.
