OK, I'm terrible at grading Washington's so I thought I would post a shot of this 1937-S to see what you guys think it is. I have an idea of what it might grade, but I want to see what you guys say...then we'll see if I'm even remotely close.

Thats actually about what I was suspecting. I was thinking VF, and maybe XF details with harsh cleaning.

I have never understood why someone tries to clean these coins. Who are they trying to fool-it seems so obvious to me. But, I guess there are enough uneducated collectors out there to make it profitable for less than honest dealers.

Anyway, I got this coin in a lot of about 50 silver quarters I bought for $75 about 5 years ago...so I can't complain too much. It was a partially complete silver set so all the dates were different. I thought it was a good deal so I jumped on it.

I'd say F15 with the harsh cleaning noted.

F-12 with cleaning noted-just to contrive some balance between GDJSMP and 09S-V.D.B.

Is the son the shadowing around the S on the reverse a result of the cleaning, its age or something fishy?

It's dirt that was not removed by the cleaning.
