from the uk we dont tend to pick many american coins up but in a big bag of plastic sleeved coins got from a deceased estate i found these american items. 1 1885 morgan dollar 2 d-day 1995 liberty dollars can anyone tell me about there value the 1995 dollars look in proof condition made to commemorate d-day the 1885 morgan dollar(didin even know it was this till i searched the net)looks to have no rubbing or low spots though is a bit dirty looking, where can i tell on it which mint it was made as i notice this is important and what kinda price are these items . thank you just glad to have a few american coins to be honest, nice to sit em beside the confederate notes i picked up about 6 weeks ago hello to all by the way been a little quiet lately as its summer and im a builder and this is the time to work the hours and make the money,Also the fishing has been good lately and been on a few nice trips.
On the back of the coins under the eagle is a bow and under that is ether a D-S-O-CC or nothing and if there is nothing its a P. The 1995 is not a US coin--maybe a token but not a coin. The 1885 silver dollar value is (can't tell without a photo) at the lowest grade is $12.
see the bow and nothing under there so guess its a p (just my luck ehhh), the 1995 have on them has on the united states of america one dollar, inside of which is a saying signed by dwight d eisenhower under which a tiny d on otherside has d-day june 6 1944 liberty inside of which is running soldier and in god we trust then 1991/1995 sounds to me like a commemerative coin ive no idea however if its silver or base metal i have 2 of them both in what i would say proof condition. In this bag i also picked up what i think is a 1 rupee silver though i may be wrong 5 5 crown churchil commemeratives 6 1 crown commemeratives 2 isle of man commemeratives 2 medallions inventors of the world a lady diana prince charles commemerative crown a barbados silver dollar .500 silver 11.5 grams a couple more commemaratives ect so not to bad for 20 pounds i think
Does it look like this? If it does, it is a 1993 or 1994 minted World War II Commemorative dollar. Nice catch! In silver or clad, MS-69, $45 US.
The "D" indicates it is one of the 94,708 minted at Denver, which the 2003 Red Book valued at $24 in MS65. There were 322,422 proofs minted at West Point, which the same book values at $27.50 in PR65, despite the much higher mintage. Actually pretty good, considering all you got.
yes CohibaCris that is exactly what i have and i got 2 of them in what looks like proof condition certainly immaculate thaks for that by the way 1991 ----- 1995 thats what it has
next question lol are these silver and what % or metal clad ? these havent been out there protective plastic holder i reckon since they were made so are the worth sending off to get graded ?
ok i have decieded to splash out on a red book for myself i have lots of uk coin price guides such as marsh but none for usa and well i recon it pays for itself quickly enough.
guys by the way what is the blue book ? also someone is selling them both together on ebay for 17.95 usd 2004 editions is this a good deal ?.or should i just get the red book ???????
They are 26.76g of .900 silver, .7736 oz. ASW. Krause gives the same mintage numbers as the Red Book, and its 2005 edition values the Denver business-quality strikes at $27 in MS65, and the Washington proofs at $40 in PR65.
Morgans are neat I have one and plan to add more. First got to get 73,75 94,95,98 and 2000 mint sets for the collection first. My Wife Mine and 4 boys B-Days thats what those mints sets are a priority before more morgans to my collection.
looks like i lucked out the english 5 crowns and 1 crowns i got are averaging about 15 usd each on ebay to and i have bout 15 of them in total+few other bits and pieces and this 1 rupee silver coin im intresting to find out, that with the morgan and 2 d-day coins seems i didint do to bad in buying a pig in a poke . i also purchased 2 weeks ago couple of tubes of 2000 silver eagles what do yas reckon chances of them rising in value . Also a question why do people go get graded single eagles ? surely i would have thought the cost of doing this outweighs any benifits im confused as to why some of thee modern coins would be worth a lot more money than they costs when they were minted just a few years or less ago
ive just begun collecting uncirculated britsh mint coin sets , tosay i bout a 1967 one i need to find out to be honest what dates are available as i intend to get em all . i cant help myself getting drawing deeper and deeper into coin collecting the more i learn the more coins i want for instance in the last 3 months ive purchased about 3000 uk worth of coins man i coulda got me a decent second have boat for that to go fishing with.guess though i could sell em all if i wish
In the 2005 32d Ed, covering the 20th/21st Centuries, Krause lists 36 different mint sets (dated 1982-2003), more than 120 proof sets (dated 1902=2003), and approximately 100 Maundy sets (date 1901-1999). Except for some of the gold proof sets, they are generally cataloged at $100 or less. In line with my favorite recommendation - buy the book before the coin - you may want to acquire, or at least visit your local public library and review - either Krause's Standard Catalog of World Coins, or a more specific British reference, such as Spinks.
because they think they might get a PF-70 or a MS-70---I bought a MS-69 2004 ASE and am glad I got it. Speedy
