Here's one of my latest coin finds

Well, it must be an error coin. Nice photo! I don't collect 'em, I just spend 'em. I did find one "non-error" awhile back, at least that's what they told me here on CT. Spent that one too. Here's a pic:

You are looking at a rare dropped letter coin. look closely and you can see the sunken in L Troy

 

I see it now. What coin is that? I don't recognize it.

Troy, you talk much about these dropped letter errors, and I dont know much about them.... Could you explain to me how these occur?

For a second there I thought it was gonna be the DDR that goes for moon money. Still a nice find.

 

I have some of the moon money coins also but they are not for sale or show. they are authenticated and slabbed.

 

I'm not very good at trying to explain things but I sure will give it a try for you. the way they occur is that a coin die recessed place like the letters , numbers or any part of the design becomes clogged with about any kind of junk. sometimes this will come loose and fall out of the recessed areas of the die then if it happens to land on the next planchet the die pushes the junk or debree whatever we want to call it get's pushed into the coin as the die strikes it. when this coin comes out of the die the debree falls out of the planchet and presto you have a dropped letter and if a bigger part of the design happens to stay together and does this then I call it a dropped die filling coin. What makes these so rare is that a lot of times this debree or junk breaks apart into tiny pieces and only makes tiny looking places on the coins. I suppose the larger pieces that stays together like say a whole group of the coins design is some type of stuff that is really hard and stays together better . hope this helps you. Troy

 

Not for sale makes sense, but not for show? I don't see the point in keeping it hidden. If you're willing to admit to having it, you may as well share by showing it. As you may have often read, "pics or it didn't happen".

 

Well in this case I better just go ahead and tell you a lie before you worry yourself and become sick. Ok then it never happened ...... Feel better now? I sure as heck hope so,I would hate to cause someone to get sick.
