Hello im new here and thought somebody may be able to help me i have a old coin that i found in storage that was my grandpas he passed away when i was young so i never got to ask him about it so im hoping somebody can help me

Republic of China, 1920, 10 cash (10 wen). There are few variations in Krause (Y #302, 302.a, 302.1), in VF the value is between $1.50 to $4.
It is a "10 wen" coin from the Republic of China but the date does not seem correct. There is no date on the coin. However, the inscription translates as "In Commemoration of the Founding of the Country" which should be the year 1912. I do not have any of the Krause publications but perhaps another forum member could double-check this date. You may also find this thread worthwhile. Gary
manymore: Just tried to help a member who can't check Krause himeself/herself. I definitely don't know enough to comment anything, not mentioning read what the coin says (this is probably why I don't collect Asian coins). Krause 38th edition states the year 1920, a mistake is always possible.
Not sure about 38th edition, but current KM says ND(ca.1920). So coin is not dated, but KM thinks it was struck around the year 1920.
Interesting that Krause says "circa 1920". I checked jianming qianbi cidian ("Concise Dictionary of Chinese Coins") which is a catalog published in China and it states that the coin was made at the Tianjin mint in 1912. However, I am not knowledgeable about Chinese coins of the Republican era so I cannot comment on which, if either, source might be correct. Gary
