Error penny

    My dad has this penny and we have different views on what it is worth, rarity, and collectability. can you help us out please?

    I don't know if it is a real error or not, looks unusual on the reverse photo

    It doesn't look right because the unstruck part looks totally different than the struck part, but I am no expert on errors

    I see what you are saying. the unstruck part is pretty dirty.

    It's real. It is undated and worth about $7. The coin is definitely 1982-current because you can see the zinc stretches on the outside.

    if it was dated would that add or subtract value?

    i have one more coin that i actually found today while working and its not as off-center but it has a thick rim on part and no rim on the other.

    I think that that is a misaligned die (MAD).

    EDIT: IF it is centered on the reverse then it;s a MAD.
