If I was to subscribe to a monthly magazine for coins what would you recommend?
    Thanks

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest joining the A.N.A. As a member you will receive a monthly copy of The Numismatist. As for the other periodicals, most aren't worth the paper they are printed on, IMHO.

For mainly US coin topics, all of these have e-newsletters delivered to you via email free of charge, or that you can access online:

    Coin World
, (Online you also get Paper Money ,Coin Values, World Coins and World Coin Values publications, and special editions - online)

    Numismaster,

    Coin Update,

    Coin News
    ,

    Mint News Blog,

    Coin Week
    ,

    Krause Publications - Numismatic News

Also the ANA 'The Numismatist' (requires paid membership), You can save money and trees, shipping time by opting for the digital edition in place of the print edition. Read it earlier than most others who receive the printed copy. You can also get into archived editions back to 2009, and access from internet or Apps on smart phones. Download and save or print PDF files. IMO, The Numismatist has a decent balance of advertisements to articles, though some months are hit and miss for you as a collector as entire issues can pass without much of significant interest for some subscribers, yet it is a pretty nicely designed publication.

Since you posted this in the 'error coins' forum: minterrornews.com

As for the comment about the other periodicals not being worth the paper they are printed on, well that's why it's so great to get so many free e-newsletters online. Nothing to pay for, you can take it or leave it, and the news is delivered faster than anything printed can reach you.

I don't subscribe to it, but I have bought a few newsstand copies of COINage.

I have been subscribed to both Coinage and Coin World for a few years now. My opinion on each one are as follows. Coinage is a great read and has a great editor, but is a relatively fast read. Coin World is a thick magazine with a good price guide, but is loaded with advertising. But, some people love to look through the ads for good deals.

Yes, way way way too many ads at Coin World. A regular week is 80 pages long, with at least half that full-page ads, another third of the remainder half page ads and assorted listings squeezing actual numismatic content down to nearly a dozen pages total if all combined. Still, they cover aspects of the US market and a fair amount of World coin market topics that don't get featured in other pubs, at least earlier than most others report on them, it seems.
