You may disagree with me or think im a **** for thinking it but if I dont need to specify which is which and you know who I mean is who, then I am right. ATS West is a edited ATS South is a edited Im talking about the general non-specific members not the companies, as I respect both grading companies and what they have done for the hobby(for the most part) I realize many here are at both and I can say anyone here is pretty much excluded from that opinion. This is the only forum where I really feel is more about the coins than it is about the politics of the industry and social status. (I will give one example because I am too immature to resist but the dude edited
Don't sugar coat it next time. Tell us how you really feel. I spend a lot of time over ATS West. I agree about how some act over there. But wade through all of that and there are plenty of informative posts and a lot of great collectors AND dealers there. Don't spend anytime ATS South, so no opinion.
I agree, there is a wealth of info there and a very valuable resource and some great members. But I have noticed that not just for me but other members trying to become particpants is really difficult. Im not the most likable fellah I realize this but it doesnt matter who it is over there, you have to come on board at a master level. And even some key collectors have a tough time with other bigwigs there. Ousted and banned members and such.
ATS West would be PCGS' CU in California and ATS South would be NGC's CS in Florida. Personally, I think Clinton and Carter were lousy presidents, but does that make all presidents bad? As a rule, I give little credence to someone who complains using generalizations because they are indefensible. So, unless you are willing to be more specific to enable us to discuss the matter logically and with civility, I think you have to accept the fact that, no matter which forum you choose, there will always be people who think differently, and you shouldn't put them down just because their views differ from yours. Chris
Actually I was put down because my view was different from theirs. So where does that leave us now within the tenets of your deep thinking forum usage philosophies? And you are over there putting me down now with your little tattle-skirt on.
I stated an opinion. I offended no one and I made no accusations nor did I make any personal attacks. Regardless of wether somoene agrees with me, the point has logical validity and was at worst worth a discussion without the personal attacks made towards my intelligence and reading ability and the other down-talking that took place there. It was only then that I replied in kind.
I'm fairly familiar with the behavior of members on both the NGC and PCGS forums since I have been a member of both for going on 10 years now. I rarely post in either of them anymore and have not for several years - this one keeps me too busy. But I will say this. The, shall we call it, "social decorum" of the PCGS forum has always left a lot to be desired IMO. It is not a place for the thin skinned. The NGC forum on the other hand was always a lot more "friendly" in regard to how those of differing opinions and the way that those less knowledgeable are treated. But regardless of what forum you go to, including this one, there are always going to be those times - and this always kills me - when some take whatever is being said as a personal attack when it is in reality no more a personal attack than anything. Being corrected on a point of fact is not a personal attack. Having a different opinion is not a personal attack. Being told that you need to learn more is not a personal attack. Being told that you are wrong is not a personal attack. Yet all of these things can be taken and quite often are taken as personal attacks - by some people. Of course this is sometimes understandable to a degree for not everyone uses tact when they reply on a forum. But I will agree with one thing - there are a lot of jerks in the world. My advice is always that you let it go, drop it, don't worry about it, and don't be so defensive. And don't be so thin skinned. And by all means ignore the urge to retaliate. If you are going to participate on a public forum, any forum, you have to expect a certain amount of it, be aware that it will happen sooner or later. And in some places it will happen more often, in others less. It depends on the members. And it depends on the rules of the forum. But honestly, there are a whole lot of instances where a person takes another's comments as being a personal attack - when they are no more a personal attack than anything. And when that happens the problem is really with the offended and not the so called offender.
LOL ! Depends on what you're talking about. Where facts are concerned there is a definite right and wrong.
For the record, I want to let everyone know that mumu and I discussed the issue via PM on the NGC forum early this morning, and everything is cool. I think matters would be best served if you let this thread die. Chris
So i was probably in a bad mood when I posted this originally though obviously it means to some extent I feel this way. But I have to add that on PCGS in addition to the annoyances I listed(which are now gone) there really are some great people there too and as far as knowledge goes its unreal.
I don't know whether or not I should reply since I participate on both forums ATS? I do agree with Doug's post though.
