Does anyone else do this?

I am constantly checking on eBay for currency. Usually when I spot something about a listing I contact the seller and let them know if there is something missing or wrong with their listing. Does anybody else do this?

For an instance, the eBay listing below looks as if the seller doesn't even realize it's a star note, or at least they aren't avdertising that. Should I contact the seller and let them know for something like that?

I do that some times . but I don't do that as much anymore because I am a top seller now and I'm afraid of retaliation.

but most sellers appreciate it. they list so many items that there will be some listing errors. you are preventing buyers from having a negative experience . which is a good thing for the seller.

Yeah I did it recently. There was a P Frankie advertised in the title but the description said it was a D and the pic of the coin he was selling was an S. The seller responded and thanked me (and he pulled it off and then relisted correctly) and said he made the mistake inadvertently because he was also watching a football game at the time he was getting his listings done. Honest mistake and honest seller. But someone outbid me on the coin when it was relisted correctly.

I personally would be very grateful if someone contacted me and let me know I made an error/omission that by changing may have a positive result in my sale. But I'm sure there are people who may think you are trying to scam them.
I don't really believe in contacting sellers to bash their items or tell them they are fake. In those types of situations, I personally think it's best if items are reported directly to ebay. People can be vindictive, and as a seller, I don't need the drama.

Personally I use it as a chance to learn to know the sellers. I have notified many of errors in their listings. The ones who ignore me I remember. The ones who correct the problem and thank me for pointing it out I add to my list of favorite sellers.

Sellers should be aware that others do the same. Many times I won't make a purchase from a seller until I have some kind of feedback like this. Good customer service even to non-buyers usually results in increased sales and prices.

Tbud, I strongly recommend doing this, and then, more importantly, see how the seller reacts. If s/he ignores you and sells an item after they have been informed of a posting error, what other things do you think they would be ok hiding from buyers? I simply refuse to buy from these sellers. The good sellers will honestly thank you for the help.

There has only been one time where a seller has not taken my comment on their listing seriously. I'm going to comtact the seller of the eBay link above and let them know that the item they are selling should be advertised as a star note (which in this case would be good and helful to the seller).

I'll let you guys know the he/she writes back...
