hi there, i have found this coin whic is dated 1798, it looks like what i think they call a spade gunine, i think, however the legend does not match anything i have see, so am wondering if anybody can help, i will insert two pics for you to see if it help. Thanks Richie
Richie,it is a 19th Century brass card counter that was made to look like a 'Spade' Guinea.I have seen others with altered inscriptions such as ones advertising McNiven pens.It is in the same catagory as 'Hanover Jacks'. Aidan.
