Hello, I just wanted to use this thread for people wh are just recieving their packages and thinking the same thing i am and give them some helpful information. When you recive the brown box, do you open it? What are the PROS and CONS of opening the box?

Pro: Seeing your sets now. Low resale $$
Con: No ER, FS, or 25th labels. High resale $$

I opened mine, am getting it back from my dad as a Christmas present. I am happy with it, as I wanted it in the OGP. The quality of the coins is mediocre though, I've seen better ASE's.

I missed the window to buy from the mint, and I can't see myself paying over $600 for a set. If I did however, I would certainly open the box. The ebay grade and flip smells too much of black friday fever.

ER is early release. NGC would have to receive the sealed box by dec 8. I don't think they would make it.

I opened my set of three and I love them. I had 1 order of three. so they came in one box. if i had two sealed boxes I would have had 2 sets graded, and try for some 70's.

my options were all graded or none. so I decided to go with none graded because 1wanted atleast 1 set with the OGP. and I am not a flipper.

the flippers who sent in 5 sets and received some 70's back made some good money. but now the price of 70's have fallen from the 2500's to the 1500's price range.

I also heard a sliding coin in the box so it might just be best to open it since i'm not flipping them (since it seems the prices are slowly falling anyway) and dont want them graded.

Just oepened them, Packaging was very poor. 3 coins were rattling around but still in their airtite (pheeew!) BEAUTIFUL coins but a few have small nicks in them (Not the 2 rare coins) so good thing i didnt get them graded.

yeah, a few of my capsules were floating around as well. I like the OGP. but the case is plastic in my opinion not hardwood as stated by the mint. but I still love them.

I think my case is plastic, but it's density and sound when knocked sounds like wood. Not sure, but either way I love it as well. I think the smell inside is of plastic, but it may be the other materials used.

Pretty sure the display rack is wood. One of mine had a nick in it and I could see the wood underneath. 19 of 20 coins in my box were rattling around - but still in the capsules (some of which were loose). Glad I didn't grade mine as I would have gotten few if any 70's. Not saying the quality was bad, just not perfect. Looks like my box had a rough ride in shipment.

I opened mine and am very happy with it, although 1 of the non-key coins has a small nick. I would say if you collect coins because you love coins to go ahead and open them. If you collect them because of the almighty dollar, then leave them sealed. I bought my set to enjoy it and enjoy it I do. This is the best thing the Mint has done in a long, long time.

I opened my box. I had loose coins in all three sets I ordered. I sold 2 sets to local B&M for $675 each and kept the set I wanted in OGP.
