Personally I just buy what I like. When I buy something I make sure it interests me first. I let the market decide if its an investment.

Thanks for more great ideas! I really like the suggestion of getting a little bit of everything on the bullion coins. I am really on a Morgan and Peace kick of late. I hear of some getting them at melt but I can't seem to find those deals. I am in the process of buy 51 at $29/ coin which is the best I have seen.

I plan to off load some of my junk silver quarters to pay for the purchase of the Morgan and Peace purchase. Figure they are an upgrade from the quarters. Plus I just picked up 80 quarters at 20% off of melt.

Another suggestion was to put $200 into coin roll hunting. I do this and have a pretty good system down. This last month or so has been slow but at first, been doing it about 2 1/2 months, was really good. In about 2 1/2 months I have accumulated about 50 silvers dimes (roosevelt and mercury's) and about 80 silver halves (60 40%'ers and 20 90%'ers) from coin roll hunting. I have found it very addicting and even when I have very slow stretches I want to keep it going because I know the rewards: silver at face value!

Keep the ideas rolling. Hopefully others find this thread helpful.

Can I ask how you go about buying for 20% below melt? I have only almost pulled that off once and it was their ask price. They were asking a price that was a 18% discount for a lot of 80 quarters. Of course I jumped at that.
