NOTE: Since rodeoclown has seen fit to block me from sending him PM's, my only alternative is to post this on an open forum. I'm sorry that we got off on the wrong foot, and I apologize for offending you or any members of your family. It really wasn't my intention. When I said, "Are you sure? How sure are you?", it was really meant to be a tongue-in-cheek comment. You see, so many times we have read comments such as, "This (100-year old) coin has never been cleaned. It has been in my family for the last 40 or 50 years.", and I took your comment, "I am sure my grandfather........" in much the same fashion. I should have stopped to think that you have only been here for a month or so, and you would have no way of knowing this. That was my mistake, and I hope you will accept my apology so that we can move on. Chris
I "know" Chris from more than one coin forum and I have never seen him (intentionally) be rude to anyone. He is a heck of a nice guy and a fun poster. I am extremely confident that this has been a misunderstanding.
I agree. I only know Chris from this forum, and I've never known him to intentionally offend anyone here. He has much knowledge that many can learn from, as is Mark Feld.
I would concur with Mark. Chris has always been a helpful, friendly poster here, and I am sure it was a misunderstanding. Internet posting is always so hard since you can't see the other person's face, so much of the communication we take for granted is not possible. In the end we are all just a big family here. Chris
I'll vouch for Chris as well. He's a terrific, helpful, funny guy and I'm sure the old tongue in cheek was meant to amuse and not offend......
I have spent many a nights falling asleep in my own pool of tears from something Chris has said to me.
Lol, dang it man, you aren't helping....... [Sorry still laughing], anyway this is a great example of the blindness of the internet. If you didn't know Gbroke someone could read this as a sad, woe is me, post, and get mad at Chris for causing him so much pain. Anyway, please forgive and forget Rodeoclown, and we can just move on with our crazy little obsessions here. Chris
A genuine and heartfelt apology, Chris. I do hope that rodeoclown will accept it. Hopefully, this misunderstanding can bring you together as good friends.
Chris is Aces in my book. I know him from a couple of forums. His sense of humor never fails to crack me up. This note from Chris just shows the type of person he is. He is a character, but he is also caring respectful.
I'm sure Mark would be glad to extend that "discount" to all CT members. (If I ever find anything I want in his stock I'll send someone else to buy it.)
Accepted. You rock and I hope I didn't make you feel as if I was questioning your knowledge either, which I wasn't intending with my story about my grandfather purchasing a car with Morgan's! I just felt like sharing it to say that some people, even in Eastern Tennessee were circulating these but yeah, most weren't. I think that's why I shared the story because it's not everyday you hear about someone buying a big ticket item with a bunch of silver dollars. It takes a lot to offend me actually. I pointed out that comment as it felt it was just getting too personal. I never question people's personal stories. But yeah, I can see if someone posted a picture of a coin and claimed "It's never been cleaned, it's been in my family for 50 years" when it's actually been cleaned by the evidence provided where one would need to step in and tell them bluntly and counter their argument. It's all good! I actually use to be a moderator at one of the busiest Linux forums on the webs, I've seen it all on forums I think. This forum is quite nice compared to watching people start flame wars over which command line text editor is the best!
Perhaps only a real rodeo clown would stay angry at the bull or horse that bucked or stomped on him..
Sweet! now lets all just shake hands, and get back to the business at hand: How can we collectively all make sure Gbroke has to fall asleep drowning in his own tears? Suggestions?
