    I came across this and cannot seem to identify?
    1875-1878 20cent piece it would appear, but texted "United States of America" instead of stars ;backside is completely different; slightly smaller than the 22mm diameter coin.
    A replica or ?

    Yep, it's a love token. Many people collect love tokens. I have not seen many love tokens made from twenty cent pieces.

    I agree with you on that, but this one can't be a 20 cent piece as the design would be different like the OP mentioned. Probably a dime.

    Looks to me like it measured 17mm or thereabouts... That should make it a dime.

    Based on the date and the design, it can't be anything other than a dime.;)

    Size on the micrometer says somewhere around 17.7X mm A dime is 17.9 Also the shield is straight up and down. Those two things say DIME. So it is a dime made into a love token.
