I believe this is a lamination peal. There is also something else on the right side of the coin. The edge of the peal is very visible along jfk's face. What does everybody thimk?
On this coin it would be about impossible to say what happend to it because it looks like it has been thru a war. It looks beat up about as bad as I do. LOL but you are correct it does have part of the cladding missing , I have no idea of what caused this. Your other coin is awesome though and is a oddball coin. I have about stopped collecting regular error coins . I have way too many regular type errors and variety coins and now I'm only interested in the oddball and unusal things.
hi there LostDutchman I clicked on the links on the bottom of your post and saw that you live in Indiana. I have a error coin friend that lives in Indianapolis . I lived up north of you near Warsaw and worked in the foundry for a few years back in the late 60's and 70's . now I'm about 5 hours south of you and our winters are a little less harsh. I got caught in a blizzard near Kokomo, Ind. back in the winter of 77 and it was on rt. 31 there in the section where the road is cut thru the hills way below the level land. The snow started to blow so hard it was a total white out and everyone had to stop and when we did the vehicles even the tractors and trailers were totally buried. We were rescued and had to stay in a old school building for over a week and nearly froze to death with no heat. I still like to visit family members up there in the summer , the wind is too cold for me in the winter. try to stay warm up there and good luck in your coin business. hopefully things will start back selling better before long.
