Coin weighed in at 11.3 grams and is perfectly round as a regular half. My camera sux and this is the best I can do. The rim is intact and on the obverse the little straight line across the top at the 12 oclock position the coin is normal and you can see the top part of the E on liberty. There is no copper showing at all. The reverse has three spikes extending from the main depression. The first one extends along the the top of the word HALF. The second one extends up to the bottom part of the olive branch in claw and the third extends up to the left side of the breast shield. No copper showing on back either and the rim is a little flattened at the 6 oclock position. Hope this helps. I'm very excited to find something that might be extremely rare as some of you said it may be. I've done very well coin roll hunting for errors and my best find was a 1983ddr. I appreciate your opinions and if it is a true mint error who would be the best to send it to to get it checked out for authenticating it as a mint error. Semper Fi

Like I told you earlier this is either struck on a severe defective planchet or it is a double sided struck thru coin. by struck thru this means that something got between the dies and the planchet then pushed into the coin by the die strike. after looking at the last photos you added it looks like the edge of your coin is pushed in and this probably was caused by whatever was struck into your coin.what I think may have happened is a big piece of the cladding from another coin has landed on the reverse die then when the planchet got forced into the coining chamber the cladding piece got folded over onto the other side of the planchet and the die then struck it into your coin. this would explain where it looks like part of your coins rim is missing in your photo. You sure have a great coin here and thanks for letting everyone see it. we can learn things on the coin forums.

I forgot your other question and had to edit to add my answer. I would recommend sending the coin to Mr. Wexler he is the one I always like. his email address is: jwex@comcast.net I have known him and he has authenticated coins for me for over 30 years and he has always treated me right.

Thx Rascal for your information. What would a coin like this be worth?

That is a tough question . I would saw anywhere between a hundred to maybe over a thousand dollars. It would depend on how many folks wanted it at auction. send Mr. Wexler the two photos of it and he will tell you how to send it to him then take the authentication papers he sends you back with the coin and send it in to PCGS, ANACS or NGC to get it slabbed and graded. this will make it worth much more.
