Hello, to all here on Cointalk! Well, I finally recieved my slabbed Jefferson nickel back from SEGS. They put a step count of (3356) for the step details. I've read Bernard Nagengast Nickel Analyst several times, to where he mentioned with this year an date, If the steps show over (half the steps) it'd be considered a very-rare coin? Well, that bein' said, I'm curious' and need a Knowledgable Jefferson Collectr to help me with this).SEGS is the only grading service that uses the Step-Count. I also know alot of collectors out there that won't even touch a SEGS Certified graded coin, much less buy one. I'm not here to debate that! I'm just wondering if having a step count of (3356) like on this coin in the photos/ Would this considered over half the steps showing? I'm not quite sure how they look at this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoy the pictures,I'd also like to hear your thoughts and opinion as well about this coin. One thing I do know, I sure couldn't afford a true full-step 1969 Denver Jefferson, so I'm getting as close as I can with it! Thanks to all who took the time reading all this, and wishing all of you the best with your loved ones, during these Holidays! Jim/ an yes Still > Chasindreams :thumb:
hello' type in on the search bar' 1969-D Jefferson 4 and a half steps, I posted extra photos of it earlier , before I sent this in.
It's an extremely nice specimen. Its characteristics and slightly PL nature are highly consistent with a mint set coin and would be in the top .5% of mint set coins. If the step count is right then I lean toward not believing it's a mint set specimen because the best mint set coins tend to have their steps on the other side of Monticello. As a non-mint set coin it is unimprovable for strike and barely improvable for cleanliness. It's a fantastic coin if the pictures are half way indicative.
