I have been combing over the "VAM" listings, but I can not nail this one down to any single "VAM" category. Every time I think I found the "one", I find there is not enough in the descriptions to match my example completely into one variety/category index which they have created. I use currently use VAMworld.com to research. I have another coin which is a 1921 D Morgan (VAM 1AH) that I was able to pinpoint in a single day using VAMworld, but this 1922 D Peace Dollar has multiple issues and after several days of viewing VAM info I still can not label it one or another as it appears to be several. Wisdom/guidance from an expert would be most welcomed...Thank you. (I have more photos, but only 5 allowed per posting, still, these show most of what I question and hopefully enough for your viewing...the reverse has the ray lines, the broken branch and select other minor lines. It also has a recessed MM that is nearly flush with the coin surface). Anyway, this coin has been a real treat to enjoy since I discovered the unique and interesting variety known as "VAM". .
I have a very similar 22D. Check my profile for started threads It was a few months ago when I posted. There is also a 23d on eBay for $55.
Thanks for the reply, good post you had - yours appears to be an early strike leading up to this nature. I learn more every week about this coin...it is quite unique in the finer details. I have found the advice and information for these coin types is current and very much top shelf at VAM world.com
