Bought this for myself for my half birthday gift. I paid $75 and think I did well, but was just wanting to make sure. The signatures are Napier and McClung which I realize is the common pair. The paper still has a good amount of crispness left though and can be held horizontally in front of you without bending or wavering. It does have a bit more staining then I would like though. The whole note is slightly yellowish, but their are no major noticeable stains outside the fact that the whole note is stained. The pictures do the note more justice when it comes to color then it deserves, but I figured they would help with a grade idea. Thanks for responses.
Beautiful notes these are! Congrats. Any way that you can scan the note instead of camera photos. A flat bed scanner with a 300dpi resolution does wonders for sharing images of notes. The pics you posted are rather fuzzy and hard to judge the grade. If you can scan the note, be sure to put a dark piece of paper behind the note to help define the boarders during scanning. Also, I'm sure you are being cautious of you new notes, but because you mentioned holding it up without the note bending, if you do not have a sleeve to keep this note in, you need to get something to protect the note from oils in your hands and other damage that could come to an exposed note. Again, I'm sure you probably sensitive to these things but I just wanted to mention that because of the way you described handling the note. A scanner would be a great thing to invest in if you buying more notes and will be sharing pics. Thanks for sharing the note and I hope we can see a scan.
My guess would be F15 on the grade. It still makes it a good value for what you paid. However, better images could inhance both the detail and the grade.
Thanks for the information, especially about getting a scanner to use. It is also in a sleeve, but thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking it was F15 so sounds like I was close if not low.
I really enjoy the black eagle notes. Looking forward to adding one to my collection too. Great pickup, thanks for sharing!
