Found this over the weekend in my weekend box. Searched coppercoins, but didnt seem to match what coppercoins had, originally thinking it might be ddr-02. Since that one is out, what do you think? I only ask, because the "A" in "states" appears to be MD(to me anyway), but everything else looks good. There appears to also be an extra column in the bay to the left of the bay w/ liconln, and an etra column to the right of lincoln. thanks
Well, I can tell you one thing; It's not a DDR 1... http://lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1983ddr.html ... Where did you obtain information that there's a DDR 2 listed for this date? The only other doubled die variety recognized by the 'Lincoln Cent Resource' is a DDO 1. I've got a hunch that it's machine doubling, though if it is, the coin, IMO, is worth keeping just to have a nice, solid example of machine doubling... Every collector should have examples of each types of doubling. -Brian
its listed on lincolncentresource, in the top 50 DDO's. its number 46, and its listing there is 2-r-v. As i look at the picture for die 2 at lincolncent resource, mine appears to match. I also found ddr-02 on coppercoins.com. In that case, doubling on mine matched what coppercoins had in "UNITED", except on the U. Also, the motto dosnt appear to be doubled, but that could just be my eyes not seeing it.
First link is to the top 50 Doubled Dies http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/Top50DoubledDies.html This next link is to the picture for the coin listed as number "46" on the top 50 list http://www.lincolncentresource.com/images/1983_ddr_2.JPG And heres the link to the listing on copperscoins.com http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1983&die_id=1983p1dr002&die_state=mds
You know what, Anarchos, you're absolutely correct... Maybe I should've gone with my gut. I'd have to say your coin's the real deal, after refering to these photos below. I've never visited this section of the Lincoln Cent Resource website. Guess you learn something new everyday. :thumb: -Brian
sweet! thanks for taking a look. You actually helped me out, by referencing lincoln resource...i had actually forgotten about that site. This would make it my 3rd doubled die found since i started collecting in 2009!
Your third doubled die?! That's fantastic for 2 years of hunting! Mind sharing what your other finds were? -Brian
my first ever find was a 1955 ddo-02, and second one was a 1968 s DDO, though i dont remember which one it was.
Sorry, but I think what you're looking at is Machine Doubling since I see nothing on your coin which would lead me to believe otherwise. Zeroing in on the D & S means nothing. Zero in on UNITED and photograph that. Then zero in on ONE CENT and photograph that.
