OK Guys and Gals, here is an 1836 CBH which I've attributed and have an idea on the grade. It's nicely toned and in decent shape. What would you say? Thanks For Looking Bone
VF30. Bone, above the TA of STATES on the reverse, what is that black thing? Is it something on the 2x2 or an issue with the coin?
I saw that too, probably a hair from (King Solomon) our resident TomCat. It wasn't on the coin after looking closely when I took the coin out of the flip? B
hmmm, I'm gonna say neither. The T/I alignment disqualifies 108 and the olive stem doesn't reach far enough over the C in 50C for it to be a 109. intersting, very interesting...back to the books I go...
I purchased it as an 1836/1336, but that it ain't. A member on another list says it's an O-109 but to tell you the truth there are aspects of this coin which defy know attributions... B
I'm gonna guess it is o-106 because the design features seem to be properly placed for that but I cannot see the A of states well enough to positively identify it. Does the A of states look like this: image copyrighted by Glenn R Peterson, M.D. "The Ultimate Guide to Attributing Bust Half Dollars" Second ed.,p.278 if so 106 is right, if not, I'm stumped without seeing it in hand.
yeah!! The cool thing about that marriage is that reverse die was used to strike the 1833 o-116, the 1834 o-122 and the 1835 o-111, which are the ultra-rare "Crushed-Letter Edge" halves! This coin is an R1 but it is a neat way to have the reverse of those super rarities!
