Is this a real error or just somebody trying to make some money? http://www.ebay.com/itm/rare-wheat-...65?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2a16167bc9
zach you hit it right on the nail head. this is so obivous a novice error collector should know what it is. a round object has struck the coin on the center part of the right side of the 1 .this pushed the 1 over and forming a half circle out of the 1. this round object also pushed up some metal on the left side of the object and forming another half of the circle but much weaker than the bent 1. it is just horrible for junk like this to appear on auction expessially with such a ridiculous price. I have asked the seller to remove this thing and I will also report it to ebay.
OOPS the auction has already ended , I'm thankful no one bought it. folks are learning more all the time.
nope its not pmd it is the super rare 1065 year old cent struck by a time traveling abe, hence the high start price
Hi BadThad according to this corrupt seller it can happen at the mint. just this sellers ebay user name would be enough to tell me to stay away from his auctions. here's a copy of the email I received from him for just being friendly and trying to help him.this is the common type emails you receive from a thief on ebay that knows what they are selling is junk and trying to use it to rob others with. "ebay sellers email" Let me respond in such a way that helps you understand this- number one I don't care for your opinion, two- this error came from the mint this way just as other errors- third- once upon a time even the double dies were worthless but gained value perchance by human prerogative, I believe I've committed no offense if this came from the Denver mint like this, I would advise you not stick your nose in my business further.
I'm totally with you on this one. It's really bad when grown men act like that . he probably is on drugs or something else is wrong with him. the people here where I live are getting so bad on drugs and going around killing and robbing other people it is getting dangerous to go anywhere and dangerous at home. I suppose it is like this about everywhere. we usually have on the average at least one person die each week from a over dose in a 30 or 40 mile radius of where I live. I have slowed down on buying coins because of this. my sister in law lost a huge safe full of silver and gold coins, large size paper notes and all of her gold and silver jewelery her husband had bought for her and her disabled son before he passed away. I estimated the value of this at over 300.000 we know who got it and the law enforcement will not try to help because this problem is out of hand.one of the thief's mothers told on him because she knows what is going to happen to her 30 year old son if he is not locked up.the two dope heads that did this probably gave these valuable items away for a few pills.
I think this is still America where anyone can place to sell anything they wish. When is it ok for some to say this seller has no right to post a coin he thinks is real or even if he knows its fake. Its up to you the buyer to buy it or warn others of what you may think the coin is. I say its up to the one who bids on it as he or she has a right to read up on coins same as me. But i think its wrong to try to regulate anything that shows a picture of its self and anyone with some education can check into why it could be fake. Just my opinion.
