Good. Nice coin. It is above XF, but below 55. I would think AU-53 this one.

I would never pay that much for a uncertified coin. My PCGS XF45 cost me $210.00.

Oh wow, nice pick-up. I would love to pick up an XF-45 at 210.

Looks like an O-101. Lets see if some the experts agree with my attribution........:)

    Nice coin.

Nice coin but I'm curious to know how you get such great scans. I use an older HP 1210 scanner and can never get that quality. At least it looks like scan and not a camera shot.

I have no idea on how to take good shots. I need to invest the time and money into it. Usually what I do is just buy coins online with really good pictures, and then right click and save the picture to my coin folder. This is not my picture.

Well I have to say, it's about the best coin shot I have ever seen. If you ever talk to the seller again, ask him and get back to this thread with how he does it. That is if he will tell you.

I would go AU53 as well, especially in today's grading environment.

I read this post earlier and guess I am just flabbergasted. I haven't kept up with US coin prices, but am just astounded that these coins I bought as 3/$100 or later 2/$100 in the 90's are going so high.

Ok yeah I really need to put my US coins in a sdb. :(

Wow I had no idea they were that cheap in my life time. I guess a question I would have is what do you mean by "today's grading environment" ? I think I have heard a mention before that the older PCGS grades were graded more conservatively?

    Very nice,

The coin has a very good strike. I would put it around AU 50.
Also, Green 18 is correct, it is an O-101. The fore curl is just about diagnostic on the 101. Notice how there is no split that separates it into an upper and lower.

I just see XF's grading AUs, and AU's grading 62, (TPG grader confirmed this in a recent NN article), and 63's grading 65 nowadays a lot. I don't personally see the same standards that were in place in the early 90's. I bought quite a few nice xf's about the same as the OP coin. That's all. Maybe its just me longing for the "good old days". To be fair, a nice AU could go as much as $80 back then, but I was always searching for deals and willing to buy multiples to get a better price.

Sorry, but in my opinion you paid $400 for a $150 problem coin.

How is this a problem coin?

I would say it has been harshly cleaned. Further I would say that something has been literally scraped off the coin between the left hand wing and UNITED. The coin also has signs of light corrosion.

Could I be wrong ? Yeah, but I don't think so. You wanna find out, submit it to NGC or PCGS.

Can't wait for the days when I can get the dealers hook-up prices. It's just not like church, where I can walk around and shake some hands if I need a job. If anyone can point me in the direction of a CT member that might be able to give me a better price on Half Busts please PM me.
