Hello,I started a new tradition at my family's Thanksgiving get together.
I hope to continue it for many years to come.
I took all of my Nieces and Nephews names and put them in a hat for a drawing.
The winner would receive a 1883-O Morgan silver dollar.(AU Condition)
I'm the only serious coin collector in the family so it was very interesting to see
the look on all of their faces. All of them range in age from their early
20's right down to a new born infant. There were 17 name total in the drawing.
My Niece's husband was the winner of the coin.
It worked so well that everyone wants to do it again at Christmas.
    Thanks luke

Sounds sensational Luke, and who knows? You just might spark a bit of interest in the hobby for someone who would have otherwise had no contact with it at all. Great thing you're doing......:)

    Consolation Prizes

Great idea! If I might add a suggestion... Seed the competition with consolation prizes, like circulated Indian Head cents, Buffalo Nickels etc. That way everyone is a winner, and accumulates coins over time. For example, you could give all the "losers" a worn Buffalo Nickel at Christmas, then an Indian Head cent next Thanksgiving, etc. By Christmas 2012 you might even have a Type Set collector or two in the family. I will do some brain storming to make it even more interesting
    for the Christmas holidays.
