Post your Minneapolis I9 notes here!!

Speaking of J district, let me tell you what happened earlier this month. I went to the local casino to exchange 100 fives for 500 singles at the various cash exchange machines throughout the casino. If there's no one around I may use 2 dispensers which are side-by-side at the same time. Well this guy comes over, puts in his voucher at one of the dispensers I just used and out comes a fairly nice 1988 J-A note! I would have received that note if it weren't for him and if he wasn't speaking a language I had never heard before I may well have sought to have bought it from him. I've only come across one '88 J-A before and it is pretty worn and used so it would have made a nice upgrade to my collection.

yes canadian money has a little more value. 3-6 cents on the dollars depending where you look. it just cheaper to have the customer pay in us. banks take a good size chunk when they do the exchange for you. at some point i'll spend them. i got one on this trip that has a lot of 2s i may keep that

Hey ronterry,

That sure is a very nice I9 collection! I guess people have more I9's than I thought... Still, I notice how most of what make your I9 collection look huge is the whole 2003 $2 deal. I didn't even know that they made I9 2003A $2's... I guess I should stay more updated on what is out these days... Even I found D4 to be less common in my collection. I'm still looking for 2006 and 2009 $1 Cleveland star's (especially 2006).

I warned you that it was pretty rough! But it is an I/9 LOL...

 

IMO, it is not so much rough as it is history! Could you imagine all of the hands that thing has been through? It just boggles my mind to think about all the stories something like this could tell...

 

Is it "I" and "J" now?

 

Here is what I have for J10 district: Some of these are ones I purchased yet most of them are circulation finds.
$1's: (3) 2006 J*'s, (2) 2003A J*'s, (2) 1995 J*'s, and 1988A JD.
I don't have any J $2's.
$5's: 1999 BJ* CHCU.
$10's: 1988A JA and (3) 2003 DJ*'s.
$20's: 1985 J*.
$50's: 1990 J*.
I don't have any J $100's.

 

This is my only Minneapolis note.
Series 2003 $2, I-B block. Of the two blocks printed for circulation, this is the least common one.
This note is a circulation find, and is in AU condition, or so. It's a nice note, so I decided to keep it.

 

I haven't personally seen any IB blocks through my strap searching... I actually haven't seen any 'B' blocks for any $2's ever except series 1995 FB... That sure is a nice find and I would definitely keep it.

Yep the F-B '95 $2's seem to be more common (even today) than the I-B block 2003's.

They printed 57.6 million of the '95 F-B $2's though, as compared to 25.6 million (or so) for the '03 I-B's. I searched a couple of small bundles of $2"s last week, and found a dozen, or so '95 F-B's, a few '03 I-A's, but no I-B's.

The note I posted was found about a year and a half ago, during a strap search.

Here's all the I9 notes I've found the last couple weeks of strap searching. The middle note is in crisp shape, the others a very circulated. I have a couple Cleveland notes too, any idea how much more uncommon those are compared to these?

I'm new to the whole currency thing. I just collect $2 bills but I don't know much about them. Are these what you're talking about?

 

yeah, that's what he means by I-B's.
most $2s in my area are 2003A L-A's, but 1995 F-B's are more common than 2003 I-B's.
