Two of my nicest dug two centers...

    These are the two nicest out of the 14 two cent pieces I have dug up while metal detecting. Great condition for being in the ground for years. Jim

    I was once told look under oak trees near old houses, where kids would play on the tree, their loose change would fall out and... :D

    Thanks B12, they are usually in the 5-6 inch range. Some a little deeper some a little shallower. I mainlly detect old homes so the ground isn't moved around to much over the years. Jim

    That's a lot of 2 Cents pieces that you have found.

    Same, here its been years since I used mine, What kind do you have?
    That really makes me want to get out and start, Love the Oak Tree Theory, makes Cents!

    Mine is a cheapie from about 30 years ago. It will detect metal but thats about it.

    Nice find that's for sure. The reason the coins are still in such great shape is probably due to where you live or found those coins. Little acid in the soil. If you would live in an area where there are lots of factories, steel mills or power stations that burn coal, the ground becomes more acidic and coins such as that would have long ago vanished into something that wouldn't have resembled coins.
