Thanks B12, they are usually in the 5-6 inch range. Some a little deeper some a little shallower. I mainlly detect old homes so the ground isn't moved around to much over the years. Jim

Nice find that's for sure. The reason the coins are still in such great shape is probably due to where you live or found those coins. Little acid in the soil. If you would live in an area where there are lots of factories, steel mills or power stations that burn coal, the ground becomes more acidic and coins such as that would have long ago vanished into something that wouldn't have resembled coins.
