What is the best resource to find out where and when there are coin shows in your area ?

The Numismatist (ANA mag), Coin World and Numismatic News all post schedules by region and/or state. You may be able to find copies of these at your local library.

The little show calendar in the back of Coin World does it for me.

The problem with Coin World online is it is usually a week or more ahead, so it will not list coin shows this weekend, why haven't they figured this out yet and set their internal system to reflect what may be happening today or tomorrow? Are they out to lunch?

Other online sites do not list all shows, for whatever reason.

As to other resources, I would say get a copy of "Greysheet", $4 this week, $2.50 for last week's issue, same for Bluesheet.

If you see a coin you like, figure the least amount you are willing to pay, no bluffing. Write a check out for that amount, tear it in half, tell the dealer it is good for the next fifteen minutes with your cellphone number on it.

What does my cell number have to do with it?

He/she has to have some way to contact you when you walk away from the boarse table, should he accept your offer. Source (Scott Travers, Gary North).:hail:

I believe he means give one half to the dealer and tell him he'll get the other if he calls

I just Google my city's name (space) coin shows. Then I'll Google again replacing "shows" with auction. If I'm feeling adventurous I'll add a date such December January 2001
