Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope you enjoy your time tomorrow and think about all of the things in life that are really important. For me thats family and friends. I love this hobby I got into this year, but you can't take the coins with you when your gone. So, enjoy time with family. It's what matters most!

Out of one box of nickels, I found two War Nickels ('43-P and '42-P), a Buffalo with a worn date (some Nic-a-Date revealed it to be 1917), and five-cent pieces from Bermuda and Canada. This is my most fruitful search of nickels in a while.

    box of dimes: 1 '64
    $280 in halves; 1 '68

Seems to keep trickling in. I can't wait to find a big score.

Has anyone ever heard of 1972 half coin error where the "A" in States is missing?? I found one today but can't seem to find anything about it online.

to go along with not telling the entire truth, if they ask what i need a box of nickels for i tell them its for a game of poker. :)

Why lie? Why not tell them that you collect? Explain that you collect older coins, etc. Ask if they come across any old coins\currency to hold them for you. Bring them a box of candy next time you pick up coins and ask again for them to hold onto anything old they come across and tell them you'll bring them more candy if they do!

Moon - good point. I craft my response based upon the types of questions....

Typical Question #1: What do you do with all of those coins?
Response: I collect...me and the kids go through looking for key dates and fill out books together...it's a fun hobby and a nice college fund investment!

Typical Question #2: Do you collect?
Response: Yes I do! How about yourself?

Typical Question #3: Are you looking for Silver? Cause I do (or teller 'X' does) so you probably won't find anything.
Response A: Not really...me and the kids go through looking for key dates and fill out books together...it's a fun hobby and a nice college fund investment!
Response B: There's Silver in there (with a shocked look on my face). Holy Cow! I'm gonna be rich...(then don't say anything until they awkwardly responsd)
    Responce C: NO!
Response D: Perhaps (and say nohting else) Thank them and leave without saying anything else.

Just got a call from my bank who has $1500 in change waiting for me :)

    2 boxes of halves
    1 box of dimes
    2 boxes of nickels
    2 boxes of pennies

I'll report back later, I've never done well on the halves but am keeping my fingers crossed!

EDIT: Just got home with coins and both boxes of halves are opened and appear searched! Opened 1 roll and nothing but garbage... not even going to waste my time with the other $990 worth~ the rest will be opened as I have time but I just don't know why I go through the trouble of getting halves anymore. I think it has been more then 2 years since I found any silver :(

That sounds about right to me. I generally always mention that I have "one of those albums with the dates" in it. I usually don't say I am looking for silver. If I get handed silver and they mention it, I hit them with a nonchalant "oh cool."

Did my 2nd box of halves ever. Scored big in my opinion!
    5x 40% kennedys
    1x 90% kennedy
    2x 90% benjamins

My first box yeiled 1x 90% benjamin and 4x 40%ers

Out of 7 boxes and 6 CWRs I found one lonely little 67. Oh how I hope next week is better.

But I did find an awesome 1969 $100 star note! So not all was lost this week (except maybe my time and gas)
