Clips - hpw to tell real from fake

    Yep. That’s one thing I have several fakes of.

    FYI, The shear marks and weak rims are almost nonexistent in minor clips. All the clips I own or have seen show some signs of metal flow.

    I wonder if the mint would sell a section of the punched clad stock. The perforated section would look cool in a display or along the wall of a collectors house.

    I think it was in the 80’s, one of the mints sold the scrap sheets to a scrap company and they sold 1’ sections for $70-$80.

    One diagnostic is omitted. On most clips the design rim tapers and fades out as it approaches the clip. Other than that, it's a good summary of things to look for.

    Thanks Speedy I needed some info. on this.. I have a penny that has a clip... I have saved it because I just wasn't sure if it was real or fake.. after reading this..( the pictures really) smiles.. did it.. Im pretty sure i'ts real.. nice job Speedy...........Thanks
