My uncle gave this to me 15 years ago or better and I would like opinions as to condition and thoughts. I know he said it had been in his family long before him and he got it from his father and so on. Please any information on this is greatly appreciated!
Sorry the other 3 pics are for another coin he gave me... They were not suppose to be attached here...
If genuine this coin is very valuable, however there have been tons of reproductions made. Yours is not one of the typical cheap souvenir copies, but still may not be genuine. I would suggest having it looked at in hand by an expert.
Try taking pictures out of the envelope. In any event, get it outta there, that looks like a PVC plastic.
I agree. No one here can authenticate the piece from photos. I would suggest that you submit the piece to a local dealer for an opinion and discuss sending it to NCS for conservation and grading.
Please post larger photos with the specimen outside of the PVC flip. Though with just photos I won't be able to authenticate, I may be able to tell you if it isn't authentic. If you have access to a scale, it would also help if you posted its weight in grams, as well as diameter in mm. And as per previously posted, if the specimen is ultimately deemed authentic, you are in possession of a very rare specimen indeed. Breen gives this emission an R-7 (6-8 known) I did a quick mask overlay of your specimen's reverse and a confirmed specimen. Overall the specimens do seem to line up, though there does appear a bit of disparity on the Os.
