I reshot a lot of IHC's today because I could no longer stand the crap I took a few years ago. They're not perfect but a whole lot better than before! Thanks for looking. Lance.
Nice pics. I love looking at all old coin pics... that is what bring me to CT, besides all the interesting posts...
I would like to see what the old pictures look like. And the first thing that went through my mind on the 93 - was looks almost proof like with die polish lines.
I never mind seeing nice pictures of nice coins - so post all you want. One of these days I will have to work on improving my pictures.
Very nice pictures, really getting great details. I don't know much about the indian head series, but are die cracks more common on the early years than on the later years. Quite a few of your 60s-80s have reverse die cracks. Are they collected by die variety like the large cents? Last one, but your 1905 has a cud above the (S)T, are indian heads collected by die state where that cud would add value like in the early copper?
As far as I know there are collectors for anything. My Lincolns and IHC's are simply date/MM sets. I don't chase varieties or die states. Someone here probably has a better answer for you. As for die breaks, I don't think the IHC's are special. Sure, the early dates in a serious might be more prone to it. Stands to reason experience striking the series and improved tooling would enhance die survival. (When the Mint moved away from soft copper large cents to small, harder copper alloys with the Flying Eagle it learned some things about strike and die survival. It is believed to be the reason for a very short FE series and among the reasons for the short copper-nickel IHC period.) Lance.
It took me an entire year to realize I could take better pictures. The biggest thing I had struggled with was capturing the color properly. So yes, I look back at the images and I HAVE to reshoot them: Here are a couple examples of images from last year, and just recently re-shooting them. Before: After: Before: After:
I know this has prolly been asked on here a million times, but with such fine examples and high picture quality, could you describe your techniques in taking these shots? TYVM. ~Jason
I agree. I have 20/20 vision and I don't see what could be improved on these pics. I don't think it would make any difference if they were a little lighter, or a little darker. I wouldn't expect anymore out of a picture than this for myself or anyone else. As good as it gets IMO. There may be others but this is the finest set of IHCs I've seen on here. I didn't know you were into them this much. Really nice. I enjoyed the pics.
