Mystery Coin

    Here's 1 I got just this morning from a good friend, but have troublw Identifying it's origins, date, value ...
    If I had to take a guess, I'd say Afghan, of India...but that's only a guess.
    Any assistance would be great,

    Dumanyu,this looks like a coin from one of the Indian Princely States.As to which one,I don't know.

    Smart folks at that group, the only draw-back is it takes several weeks to get approved for membership. If Dumanyu would allow me I might try posting the pic there for him.

    I happen to work with an older gentleman from India, so I'm going to ask him about it tomorrow as well, so I'll let you know if he knows anything, but please continue with what you're doing.

    I got this just now.

    This is a coin of Nasir al-Din Mahmud I, Sultan of Gujarat (1458/9 - 1511).
    He was the greatest of the Gujarat sultans and his coins are varied and
    plentiful both in silver and copper. His gold coins are much scarcer.
    Your coin reads: obv. nasir al-dunya wa'l din (abu'l fath)
    rev. mahmud shah bin muhammad shah al-sultan.
