    silver @ $14.00/oz, gold @ $685.00/oz.

modern commems pre-issue unc $37.50, proof $40.00. regular price unc. $40.00, proof $44.00
american eagle silver proof dollar $33.95
    silver proof set $49.50
5 pc silver quarter set $31.95

why? because the mint was using $8.00 per ounce for silver as a base before. and the prices above not even included any increase in other cost. the price increases is only based on $6.00 added to $8.00 previously based by the mint.

let's see what price the mint will give for american eagle gold proof coins on may 11.

i guess the 1 oz might cost $895.00 each.

They go by spot not by what they paid for it. That is how business is done. And your prices look about right.

Watch and see, proof gold AGE's will either be pulled or prices raised, silver proof SAE's will also be pulled or prices raised (if silver hits $20). As for proof sets that is $1.85 in face value in the $30 + price range so metal prices may not enter in there (but it may). This will be an interesting summer for mint watchers. Get your eagles while you can.

    Inside Info for the Mint

Maybe the mint knows something we don't. Could the price of silver be going down soon?? If it does and the mint raises the price of the 06 sets, they may not sell as many as they need to. I am sure the ownership price of silver for the mint is still below $10.00. Interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leaving the price of the 06 sets is a wise business decision and not a kind jesture to the public.

these posts are dangerous. If someone tells the government about our thoughts on prices they charge, they will re-evaluate the costs of all coins. They will hire hundreds of relatives to monitor this forum. Then they will raise the rates of proofs, uncircs, commemoratives all in accordance with what the lean here.
    SSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH.

I have noticed that most dealers are offering ASEs at US$7 - 8 above bullion, whereas before they were only US$3.00. Is this price gouging like with gas?

Gold is over $700, what do you think the price would be for 1oz Gold Indian head-buffalo bulllion the mint is going to issue? Think collectors would still buy it?

Basically, it's the free market at work. They charge what the market will bear. I still see a lot of common ASEs selling for about $17, so maybe you are looking in the wrong places. Interestingly, I've noticed that some of the commemorative dollars from the early 1980s are still selling for prices at or slightly above melt value in the $11-$13 range with all of the mint packaging included. I know they are plentiful but this seems a bit out of line with the prices charged for other common silver coins. They must be the most "hated" of all collectible coins right now.

I got my 10 $50.00 A G E's as soon as they were released . now they have stopped selling because gold is going up up up (I hope now ) maybe they won't release all 12,000 That would be good for me! But then again with my luck gold will be down to $300 an ounce before years end

I would not be surprised to see at least a $800 price tag on the new 1 ounce gold buffalo coin. I predict that they will sell out very fast and then everyone will sit around wondering if they made a smart purchase.

I'm guessing the Gold Buffalo will be close to $1000.

get face value and make big profit

try to hoard nickels and pennies. it's at face value and you can make big profit right away. nickel bullion value now reached $.061, wheat penny $.037, lincoln penny before 1982 $.027, after 1982 $.01

    prices based on their high yesterday, may 12. nickel $10.1151 /pound, copper $4.033 /pound, zinc $1.8098 /pound and tin $4.4225 /pound.

Once the gold price corrects people who paid $800-$1000 would have lost on the deal.

    smelting companies

any company doing business or with smelting machinery would buy a little bit under bullion value instead of buying scrap metal. and you should see all products made from metals will be very expensive at this time.

I have been trying to get someone to answer the same question.

Can someone show me a firm offer for bronze Lincoln Memorial cents, that is higher than their face value?

Hadn't heard the one about nickels.
Can someone show me where there is an offer to by nickels at more than face value?
