I bought a proof coin yesterday without realizing it wasn't a biz strike

Damn...the frenzy of a coin show can be so distracting. I was so pleased with the price and quality too.

A senior moment, no doubt. Have you done something this dumb?

Man I hate when that happens. Like the time I bought some of those chocolate gold coins, and it turns out, they were actually gold coins.

Sounds like you are really a chocoholic and not a coinoholic!

    Thanks!

It's a PR63RB. My eyes saw MS63RB and I was impressed by the strike and condition. I did a quick trade for cash plus an unimpressive ANAC AU50 1885-CC trade dollar.

It wasn't until I got home and shot photos that I realized it was a proof. What a dork.

That's an amazing coin, I wouldn't be kicking myself too hard.

We have all done it. :) I bypassed a 1884 SL half once since for some reason my mind saw proof as the grade, but it was really MS. It hit me a couple of days later. The next month at the local show sure enough it was gone. Like a lot of 19th ventury issues, the MS is scarcer in high grade than the proofs.

Eh, you got a great looking coin. No harm. :) If you really don't want a proof, I am sure you will be able to trade that off for what you do want.
