A guy on craigslist said he has plenty of rolls of wheat pennys that he will sell for 2.50 per roll. I am assuming that there are no key dates. Would it be a wise investment to pick up all that he has? Thanks.
No, that's not a very good deal, to be honest. They're sorted through, all 1940-1958 in average circulation. the metal value is about 2.3 cents each, and you can honestly pick up rolls of wheats for a lot cheaper at your local coin dealer.
The dealer close to me sells them for $2.50, in each roll there is 2-3 steels, two teens, 5 twenties and 40's and 50's make the rest.
the ones i buy at my coin shop he sells in bags of 200 for 9.00 and pre 1930's are 10.00 a roll he also carries rolls of liberty nickels, buffalos and indian heads.
if im not mistaken, didnt one of your previous posts state you were from cedar falls? the dealer i go to is on university ave!
That is awesome man. You wouldn't be talking about Casey's Coin would you!? I used to live in the Purple House on University. (Old Frat House). I also use to work at Hy-Vee. Small world.
Yea! Caseys coin! He's the most honest coin dealer I've ever dealt with! I've been buying from him since 2001
Nice, when you put together a sterling combination of honest+coin dealer+long term business client=great place to go to. I've dealt with a number of dealers and I can honestly say I like a few.
That's a fair price. The going retail price is 5 cents per coin and people routinely pay more than that on ebay.
