Hello - can I have everyone's thoughts on this two cent piece? Is it worth sending into NGC? I don't want to send it in if it will just come back details. My brother says the surface looks sandy and could come back corrosion, but I am just not sure. If it is, it is fine. Tried to blow up one section, but I doubt the photo will be good enough?

Any thoughts - grade and if it will be details or not? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I would say that it's not genuine... It looks like I am having a feeling it's a fake... Where do you get it?

Bought it at Carmel Coin up in Monterrey California. Old coin shop that has been there for a while.

    Nah, looks okay.

But not worth the $'s to slab.

According to reverse, it looks like there was much more patina/dirt there in the past, it feels cleaned.

Its real and a decent coin, definitely not worth grading.
My guess would be it would go in a genuine or improperly cleaned slab.

I'd say it's definitely been cleaned, perhaps not harshly cleaned though. And the coin looks to have minor corrosion in some places. I see no way it would grade.

It's a keeper but not a grader IMO.

Thanks folks - great resource you all are. Much appreciated! I will put it in a flip and hold onto it.

I think somebody did exactly that long ago with a PVC flip. And somebody has recently tried to get rid of the PVC etching that was done to it and they did not quite get it all is where it's at now.
