This was part of my great grandfathers coin collection that was handed down to me. What grade do you think this coin is? What do you think it is worth? img357smaller.jpg img358smaller.jpg

Is it just me, or does the spacing on the "5" look offset compared to everything else?

    1895 O is a tough date!

My guess as to grade is VF30. Redbook lists price as $600 in VF20 $875 in EF40. Retail price would be around $750, wholesale would be a little less, maybe 600ish.

Only way to truly find out what someone is willing to pay is to put her on eBay, list as an open ended auction with no reserve...and let 'er rip!

Condition-wise, I'd say VF30, except for that weird wear spot leading off the M on the obverse. That might push it down somewhat. Merc's VF25/30 seems about right, all things considered.

Well, I had sent this coin in to be graded and just received it back today. It took exactly 1 month to ship it there, grade it, and get it back under economy, which I thought was extremely quick. I was pretty pleased with the result. :smile

It's always nice when a coin grades higher than the concenus.
