I sent my coins to NGC from Crewe in the UK but I'm a bit concerned by the tracking info. My coins have gone from New York,
instead of heading south to Sarasota, they've gone West to Wisconsin! This has not happended before, is this normal?

Keep in mind that we're entering the holiday season, and it is possible that the USPS is consolidating deliveries from different regions to save on transportation costs. Just a thought.

There really is no rhyme nor reason to package routes! I am sure, though, it'll get there in the end!

How's the weather in sunny Crewe these days? We just had a weird October snowfall that felled a ton of trees (snow was heavy, and trees still had leaves on them, so branches and whole trees fell) in the New England region!

I also can't believe that it was exactly a year ago today that I last flew back to the UK! How time flies ...

    It's certainly not unusual.

I agree its not unusual. My funniest story is I bought some books from Amazon.co.uk, (tip, not all Amazon's have the same price for books, UK Amazon sometimes is much cheaper for UK books than Amazon.com). Anyway, they weren't here after two months. I emailed the firm, and they were about to send a replacement box, when the first package showed up. It had marks from the Marshall Islands, Hawaii, and Houston????? Dang box had taken a virtual world tour before being delivered to Iowa. :)

Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason whatsoever in delivery routes.

You could be on their terrorist tracking list. The coins could be reassembled into a ballistic device. I hear that Scotland Yard is even more paranoid than Homeland Security.

I think that with registered mail it is shipped slowly like parcel post, so it is sent from one of two main distribution facilities. I don't know where they are, but that is how they do it I believe, then the ship them to smaller facilities until they get delivered.

Thanks for all your replies folks. I've been checking the tracking info about 10 times a day as the coin has huge potential if it comes back with a good result and it cost me quite a lot too. So just worrying.

Andy, err the weather here is overcast and miserable as it is most of the time......I know you like wreath Crowns, bidding on a 1928 at the moment.

Medoraman...hope my coin doesn't take same route as your books!

That is a bit off, but as a former USPS employee ( I quit) I would not worry about it as long as you have tracking info.

Airlines are like this too, You could fly from NYC to SF and go through Atlanta or Houston or somewhere you'd never be visiting if driving instead of flying.
